Transportation Management for Upper Valley-Lake Sunapee Employers
It's common now to hear about companies "Going Green"
by utilizing window retrofits, new insulation, solar panels,
green cleaning products, reusable water bottles and more!
These actions can make a big difference in energy use.
Now look at how your Employees are commuting to work
and help make it easier for them to consider change.
Most employees drive to work alone. The commute can be stressful due to traffic, weather, and the cost. As an employer, you are in a prime position to help employees arrive more relaxed and ready to be more productive through the use of a "Green Commute Program"R.
What is a "Green Commute Program"R
A "Green Commute Program"R can be as simple as posting transportation information on a workplace bullitenboard or as involved as having an in-house, Employee Transportation Coordinator to promote green practices and manage your employees' commute choices.
Easy steps to begin promoting "Green Commutes" in-house
Public Transit
- Post local transit maps, scheules and contact information.
- Encourage employees to try using Google transit. ("Live" now in the Upper Valley).
- Offer free transt passes. (Note: Advance Transit is free, all the time.)
Carpooling
- Post carpool websites, brochures and benefits. (Reduce commute costs by nearly 50% immediately!)
- Encourage employees to try carpooling. Offer preferred parking to those who do.
Bicycling & Walking
- Post links to the new Trail Finder on the UV Trails Alliance website.
- Provide bike shelter and racks. Showers too if possible.
Smart Commute Actions!

Encourage employees to bike or walk to work during the warmer months.
