National Bike/Walk to Work Day -
Friday, May 16th, 2008!
Curb your car and join the fun on the 52nd National Bike/Walk to Work day when people all over the country will be commuting without driving in their car alone. To celebrate, many towns and employers will be offering free commuter breakfasts, and drawings for great give-aways from generous
local sponsors who support healthy commutes.
In 2007 events were held in Hanover, Lebanon, White River Junction, Claremont, Brattleboro, Springfield and Randolph. Despite some cold and a drizzle, about 220 commuters joined the breakfast events. Thank you all!
In 2006 events were held in Hanover, Lebanon, White River Junction, Claremont, and Brattleboro. Despite torrential rain, about 200 commuters joined the breakfast events including
one man who rode to every breakfast but Brattleboro!
In 2005 events held in Hanover, Lebanon, White River Junction brought 115 commuters out to join the fun on this sunny morning. (Pictures at right.) Most people either rode about 15 miles or walked about 5 miles round-trip, but a few covered as much as 25, 36 or 58 miles to join the fun! Wow!
Plan to join us this year and pledge to leave your car at home to reduce carbon emissions, road congestion, and arrive at work refreshed and energized! For more information about this one-day event in the Upper Valley, visit www.bike2work-day.com.
