What is Emergency Ride Home? ERH is a new free benefit for commuters who use transit, walk or bicycle to work on a regular basis, and work for an employer located in the Best Workplaces for Commuters District (Lebanon, Hanover, Hartford, Norwich, Enfield or Canaan).
If you get sick, have a family emergency, find yourself with unexpected overtime, or if you get caught in a storm on the day you walk or ride your bike, we'll reimburse up to $30 per emergency, up to six times a year, but no more than twice in any month for your ride home.
Our Emergency Ride Home benefit is designed to encourage and support the use of public transit, bicycling, walking - in fact, anything other than driving alone every day. Alternative commutes reduce traffic, air pollution and parking demand.
How does it Work?
YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER your commute! Click Here.
When you have an emergency, call one of the Upper Valley's transit providers, taxis or rental car companies. Pay for your ride home and ask for a receipt. Send the original paid receipt plus a request for reimbursement to UVRS within 7 days of the emergency. We will reimburse up to $30, up to six times per calendar year, but no more than twice in any month. Click here for taxi and rental car company information.
Participants are responsible for all charges over the $30 maximum. You must have traveled by alternate commute on the day of your emergency and your ride must originate from your business location in the BWC District to be eligible. Reimbursement does not cover optional insurance expenses, refueling or tips. Your registration with us is valid until you stop working in the BWC District, or stop using an alternate commute. Be sure to get a receipt and submit it to your local Rideshare office as soon as possible. You will be reimbursed within three weeks. The UVRS-ERH program covers only PRE-REGISTERED commuters.
