Directions to replace batteries in the UVRS Safety Strobe
The batteries will need to be replaced after approximately 100 hours of use. The lens and the base unit have an air-tight fit (without using glues or chemicals), so it may be a little difficult to separate them when replacing batteries.
Here is the technique we have found works best.
1) Opening the Strobe Turn over the strobe and firmly grip the lens with one hand. With the other hand, postion a large straight-tip screwdriver or butter knife under the attached end of the plastic clip. (CAUTION: DO NOT POSITION UNDER THE LOOSE END and DO NOT USE A SHARP KNIFE!) While holding the loose end of the clip with your thumb on the hand holding the strobe, gently lift the back away from the red lens. You can also gently twist the back off by hand on some of them.
2) Battery Installation Once the lens is off, remove the battery retainer clip using a Phillips screwdriver. Remove old batteries. Install two new batteries, making sure to match the battery "+" with the "+" stamped on the base unit and aligning the battery "-" with the "-" stamped on the base unit.
3) Reassembly Place the battery retainer clip in place. Press the lens together with the base unit positioned the way you want the clip to face. Now your Safety Strobe is ready again.
